A key strand of this work is to carry out more than 50 major studies each year into the value for money (VFM) achieved on specific programmes and activities. Our VFM work aims to be constructive, realistic and directed towards making practical recommendations, with published reports scrutinised by the Committee of Public Accounts of the House of Commons. A suite of training courses is now required for VFM Audit staff to ensure they possess a broad range of skills to deliver studies.

1) Short Description: This training course should teach delegates how to make a defensible case, and how to manage the risks involved in making clear (and, in some cases, contentious) audit conclusions. Since the evidence gathered in a VFM examination can sometimes point in different directions, the course should also teach how to weigh evidence and arrive at judgements where the evidence is itself uncertain.
